Fax Quality FAQs

What type of documents should be sent in high quality?

  • Contracts or legal documents with small print

  • Government forms or applications

  • Invoices with detailed tables or line items

  • Documents containing logos, stamps, or signatures

  • Scanned images or photographs

Why does fax quality sometimes look different from the original file?
Faxes are optimised for transmission and may be compressed or converted to monochrome depending on the recipient's device. This can cause slight differences in how the document looks after delivery.

How can I improve the quality of a faxed image or photo?

  • Scan documents at 300 DPI or higher

  • Use clean, high-contrast originals

  • Save as PDF before uploading

  • Avoid sending images with text overlays or handwriting, which may blur when transmitted

Which file types are supported for faxing?
Notifyre supports a range of file types including PDF, DOCX, JPG, PNG and more. For best results, we recommend using formats like PDF, which tend to maintain formatting and image clarity better than others during transmission.

Why is PDF the best format for faxing?
PDFs are ideal for faxing because they:

  • Preserve formatting and layout better than image files

  • Are not subject to lossy compression like JPGs

  • Scale easily to standard page sizes (A4/Letter), helping to prevent cut-offs

Does Notifyre compress files before faxing?
Notifyre optimises files for fax delivery, which involves minor compression to ensure successful transmission. PDFs typically retain quality best through this process.
